COVID-19 Cancellations
and other Questions & Answers about
Undersea Expeditions LGBTQ+ Scuba Vacations

We ask all of our guests be fully vaccinated before joining one of our scuba vacations.

What happens if we cannot travel due to COVID-19?
If a trip cannot depart as planned due to the pandemic, it will be rescheduled for a future date, usually one year out. If the new dates do not work for you for any reason, an alternative departure to the same or another destination will be offered.

Please invest in travel insurance due to the many non-coronavirus related factors that might force you to cancel your trip.

Other FAQs:

Are the trips primarily couples?
No. Typically 60%-70% of UnderseaX divers are traveling by themselves. The rest are couples or friends traveling together. So traveling alone is by no means unusual, and you will have the chance to meet new dive buddies! Many lasting friendships are made on our expeditions. If you are traveling alone, we can almost always match you with a roommate to save you money.

How old are the other people on the trip?
The typical UnderseaX dive traveler is a gay or lesbian professional in their 30s, 40s, or 50s with a sense of adventure and a desire for an active vacation. But we have divers in their 20s and many in their 60s and better.

How many people will be on this trip?
The average group size varies. Usually 20-25 divers participate on land-based trips. Most liveaboards accommodate 16-20 divers. Undersea Expeditions creates a fun environments where personal relationships are easy to make and nobody feels left out.

I'm traveling by myself. Do I have to pay the single supplement?
No. UnderseaX can reserve you a room to share if one is available. Or, if you prefer, you can pay the single supplement when available and be guaranteed your own private room.

Will I fit in?
You may be understandably wary of group travel. You may ask, "Will I fit in?" or "Will I meet people that I like?" In the past, guests have described their UnderseaX experience as "the best vacation of my life.", "Absolutely fantastic" and "the group was great."

Where are the other guests from?
While most guests come from major cities, there are always divers from all parts of the United States and a few from overseas. We often welcome gay and lesbian divers from Europe, Mexico, Taiwan, and Australia. UnderseaX hosts a diverse group of people who have a great time diving together. That's why about 80% our divers have traveled with us before.

Are your events mixed; what is the percentage of men and women?
Most liveaboard vacations are mixed, about 80% men and 20% women. We also offer exclusively "For Women Only" and "For Men Only" weeks at least once a year, and usually twice.

Can I learn to scuba dive on your vacations?
Many of our vacations offer the opportunity to learn to dive, or to upgrade your certification level. PADI Scuba Divers should plan to upgrade to Open Water certification on the trip to dive independently with a buddy.

Never been scuba diving before and want to learn about it?
Check out the PADI information, which will answer many of your questions.
