Cayman Islands
and LGBTQ+ Travel:
Thanks to the efforts of our friends and allies within the Cayman Islands, including Nancy Easterbrook at DiveTech and Pilar Bush in the Ministry of Tourism, in 2005 a long standing boycott of the Cayman Islands was successfully brought to a close. Since receiving the official welcome below, Undersea Expeditions has hosted more than a dozen LGBTQ+ group trips to the Cayman Islands, enjoying great diving with no negative incidents.

Dear Mr. Hamman,
Thank you for your
interest in the Cayman Islands and for requesting an
update on the Cayman Islands Government’s position on
gay and lesbian travellers.
It is unfortunate that events in the past may
have cast the Cayman Islands in a negative light. As you
are aware, these decisions were taken by a prior
political administration.
As a country, the Cayman Islands will not
discriminate against any social group and will
graciously receive all visitors to our shores.
I want to thank you for the spirit of goodwill
that prompted your inquiry.
Respectfully yours,
Honourable Charles E. Clifford,
JP
Minister for Tourism, Environment, Development and
Commerce
