The Tuamotu Islands, north of Tahiti in French Polynesia, consist of coral atolls fringed by small islands ("motu"), surrounding large turquoise lagoons protected by outer coral reefs.
Diving here is nothing short of thrilling. French Polynesia is the home of “shooting the pass”, where our boat drops us with a guide on the outer reef and we ride the incoming tide through the channel into the inner lagoon. Along this thrill ride, we may hook in with reef hooks and watch sharks and rays glide past. Of course, regular reef dives featuring colorful fish and hard corals are on offer in between pass dives.
We board our ship on Fakarava, where we begin our diving, and cruise on to Rangiroa and the famous Tiputa Pass. The diving is suitable for intermediate to advanced divers who are comfortable diving from tenders, in current, and with sharks. Open Water divers are limited to 18 meters (60 feet), so plan ahead now and upgrade your certification! Advanced Open Water and Rescue divers may dive as deep as 30 meters. Master Scuba Divers (CMAS 3* equivalent) may dive to 40 meters. All divers will stay with a guide in small groups of five divers to one dive leader.
French Polynesia is not an inexpensive destination, but traveling by liveaboard offers us maximum value and fixed up-front costs. A gay South Pacific cruise, accommodation, meals, and up to twenty dives – all included for one set price.
Come visit the most romantic islands on Earth with us. If the incredible beauty doesn’t make your heart race, the pass dives will!
